Firstly, apologies I have been so slack in my posts. I have been working my behind off for the past nine months. I am currently at home in the UK and working on a farm, all day every day (no exaggeration here). It’s relentlessly hard work so my blogging has been put to the side to make room for napping. Now the harvest is over, I’m hoping to catch up on posts from my previous travels and to add in a few more trips along the way. In early September, we’ve booked some time off of work to hopefully go on a motorcycle trip to the SW coast of England. In October I am planning to visit Paris and then hopefully in December, we will go to the German markets (the real ones not in Bath this time!) Working hard is tough but unless I win the lottery or an anonymous millionaire is reading this and wants to donate a couple of their spare millions, it’s got to be done. It can be tough but it’s all worth it in the end!
Anyway, with that catch up out of the way, back to writing about Chiang Mai. What better way to spend the day than to make it totally cat themed.
We started the day with paninis at Taa Peng Cat. Presented with a warm welcome and an adorable hand illustrated menu, we enjoyed a nice cup of coffee with delicious food. Located on one of Chiang Mai’s busy roads, this cafe is sweetly tucked away from the craziness in a small, secluded garden. The staff are really friendly and it was a great place to use the speedy WiFi rather than the slow one back at our hostel.
As some of you may have seen in my earlier post from Bali, I’m very intrigued by Cat Cafes. So once finding out about one not far from our hostel, we were straight on the bikes for some cat cuddling.
As you can see from the photos, the cat cuddling was in short supply. Most of the cats were sleeping and uninterested in us stupid tourists. It was nice to drink some iced tea in the presence of cats but I think with cat cafes (perhaps not all), the idea of them is more appealing than the actual thing. Cats seem to only be interested in me when I have food. Personally I’m more of a dog person, but a dog cafe would be pretty crazy… and you would have to keep a watchful eye on your food.
To end our cat themed day, we headed back to a lovely restaurant called The Cat Shack. Highly rated on Trip Advisor it did not disappoint and the milkshakes were incredible, especially as they were dairy free! The carrot cake is also one of the best I’ve had, being my favourite cake I’ve tried a lot, even on this trip alone.
Chiang Mai is well known for being a great place to relax and take things slow, so it was easy to stay here for longer than we planned to… Five days longer to be exact! I will be writing more of that soon but for now I’ll be having an early night ready for my 4:00am start tomorrow!

I visited Catmosphere in 2016, it was the perfect andedote for missing my cat after a month of being away. (He forgave me eventually – I was away two months)

Just wanted to let you know you have a such an amazing blog! I’ve been watching vlogs on YouTube for years and it seems like Chiang Mai would be such a great place to visit. Perhaps one day!

Sounds like such fun!! Question for you – I’ve never been to a cat cafe before, so I’m so curious on whether they’re clean as well? Or is their fur everywhere?

I haven’t been to a proper cat cafe, but for a short while, the U.S. would have “pop-up cat cafes” which were really advertising for cats needing a home. I think that part worked well in getting people to come see cats when they wouldn’t go to a shelter, but you really do need some hyper young kitties for it to work. A dog cafe would be cute, but you need to find the right dogs since it could get messy.
