For the past ten months, I have seen the Malverns from a far every day. The farm I am currently working and living on, is just over ten miles from the Malverns. In the middle of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and a small part of North Gloucestershire, this range of hills has an amazing view that stretches for miles.
To walk of the entire trail of the Malverns takes around six hours. With only the afternoon off and rain expected at any moment, we opted for the trail which took around half an hour to get to the top. It’s not a particularly long trail but the incline is very steep… and I haven’t been to the gym in over a year. Luckily I had my Springer Spaniel to pull me up.
This is Jed, our senior dog with A LOT of energy. He’s basically a puppy in an old dogs body.
Herefordshire beacon.
At the start of the trail is a car park and opposite a pub and a cafe. It’s a great place to stop for lunch and finish the walk of the Herefordshire beacon. When the weathers better and we have a bit more time, I would love to do the whole trail. With Jed’s relentless energy I’m sure he could pull me along!

I love the Malvern Hills, going due east from the Malverns there is nothing so high until you reach the Ural Mountains in Russia. I lived in Worcester for 9 years and regularly walked up the Malvern Hills, but I didn’t have a Springer Spaniel to help, brings back good memories.
