The Louvre, Paris

The world’s largest museum and Paris’s 2nd most visited tourist attraction (Disney Land at number one), the Louvre museum did not disappoint. The Louvre offers over 380,000 objects and 35,000 pieces of art. There’s so much to see that if you spent 30 seconds looking at each piece of art, it would take you 100 days. We were here for three hours and certainly didn’t spend 30 seconds on each piece! After the iconic music video from The Carters, visitors to the Louvre have increased drastically in the past year and it’s not hard to see why. When watching the video I envisioned myself having a spacious gallery to stroll through and be completely at peace whilst taking in the art… unfortunately this luxury is only available if you’re a billionaire and world famous.

The Winged Victory of Samothrace, 2200 years old

One of favourites at the museum would definitely have to be the Mona Lisa. Probably one of the most famous faces in the world, I was totally okay with wiggling my way to the front of this crowd to get a good look at her.Another favourite was the Mummy of Belphegor, who rumour has it, supposedly haunts the museum… To be honest, if I was a ghost I think I would haunt it too, at least you’d be able to see everything!

Don’t forget to look up… As if there wasn’t enough to see, the art work is also spread up onto the ceiling. Whoever painted this must of had a terrible neck ache after because the attention to detail is incredible, it must of taken years to complete. Apologies for the photo quality, my phone doesn’t have the best camera!

Ancient mosaicsOut of all the pieces in the Louvre, the Globo Celeste was my favourite piece. Not as well known as the Mona Lisa but definitely worth a visit, this globe dates back to 1144 making it the world’s 3rd oldest globe. Bearing 48 constellations and 1025 stars, this is globe is truly a masterpiece. As always my advice for visiting here is to get here early and buy your tickets online. Also if you do visit and there’s not many people about, make the most of it and visit the Mona Lisa first before the crowd gathers.

  1. Great post, brings me nice memories😊 I remember how, several years ago, when we visited Louvre first hour in the morning, we went straight to Mona Lisa, but a small gathering was already there😍
