Pensford Viaduct, Bristol

There is nothing better than wagging tails and long walks. It doesn’t have to be sunny or even warm (although that does help), happy doggos are the best.

Since being back in Bristol, I have been borrowing two dogs. One of which is actually the son of my late dog, Jed. His name is Dexter and he is so similar to Jed, I’ve probably only managed to call him by his name twice… He ignores me either way.

Beautiful scenery… if you ignore Rupert squatting!

Having the dogs around is great because it’s pushing me to explore areas I’ve never been in Bristol. Just like the Pensford Viaduct.

St Thomas à Becket Church, Viaduct behind

The Viaduct was constructed in 1873 to carry the Bristol and a Somerset railway over the River Chew. After a few rebuilds, the line officially closed on 15th September 1978 after flooding in Pensford weakened the structure.

Today standing at 95 feet, it’s a beautiful piece of history standing across the rolling fields of Pensford and a fantastic spot for a walk.

What you see…
What I see ❤️

I came here with my good friend April, who is getting married next month. This wedding has been postponed three times already, so I am very excited for them to finally get their special day. I’m also excited/terrified to be the maid of honour. Eeeek!

Adorable little lamb

After the walk we stopped by river for the dogs to cool down… Apparently they thought we needed cooling down too, so kindly shook all over us… so sweet!

  1. Great to see you out and about. It’s amazing how much life a dog can bring, especially in these times. I know over here in the states, the number of adoptions during the pandemic skyrocketed. A plus for both the humans, and the animals. Any luck on a new job? Getting to do a bit of travel? I am looking forward to the day where we can travel outside of our country again, but it has made me visit places within my own boundaries that I may not have visited without these restrictions. Always trying to see the good within the bad. Enjoying your posts…

    1. I’ve been applying for a few, the one I really want I haven’t heard anything yet but there is a strong chance on a part time delivery driver. Hopefully it’s only short term until we can travel again so I’m not too worried what I do! Just nice to not eat into the savings too much. I’ve been able to explore loads over the past couple of weeks and going to the gym, so mentally and physically doing a lot better… Dogs also help 😁
Thank you for your kind message, I’m glad you’re enjoying the posts! ❤️

  2. How did I miss this? I lived in Bristol for a year and never came across it. OK, it was 40+ years ago, but I’m amazed I didn’t stumble across something this spectacular. Ah, the folly of youth! The whole area looks very picturesque. Love that hollowed out tree.

  4. Hi Emily,

Dogs do wonders, right? They love their walkies( is that the British term?) and mine are probably ready when I get home. Beautiful scenery, too.

    Thanks,

    Gary

    1. They do love their walkies! Walkies was actually a trigger word for my late dogs, as soon they heard it the ears would prick up and they would run to the front door. Dogs are the best aren’t they!

        1. I love Wallace and Gromit! Did you know they were created in Bristol? I always loved the episode when they went to the moon and it was made of cheese, for most of my childhood I believed that was what the moon was made of because of them ha ha!
