Symonds Yat is a beautiful village in Herefordshire, close to the Welsh boarder. With the River Wye lacing through the lush woodland, it is full of stunning views which can be best appreciated, from the top of Symonds Yat Rock.
Somehow I’ve gone from having a break from work, to working every day again. Silly me really but it’s encouraging me to make the most of my free time. Even when the skies are this grey, I’m going out and exploring!
Although the sky was full of gloom, the rain stayed off and we had a lovely walk. Megan enjoyed herself so much that she continued walking without us. When she returned, she was soaking wet, covered in seeds, a bit out of puff with the waggiest tail I’ve ever seen.
After a stroll along the river and finally capturing Meg, we headed up to Symonds Yat Rock.
Symonds Yat Rock is like something from a film, it’s so magical. Well I say it’s like something… it is something. If you’ve ever watched Sex Education on Netflix, this is where it was filmed. We did try to find Otis’s red house but no luck. It’s actually a holiday rental called The Chalet which you can read all about here. Unfortunately there is no address or anything so it shall remain a mystery to us… For now anyway!
When we arrived we spotted some deer and further down the path a few more. Little Megan was particularly interested in them. If she wasn’t on the lead, I don’t doubt that she would of run off with them. That would of been fun trying to get her back… Not.
It didn’t take us long to get to the top and when we did, we were greeted with a stunning view over the Wye River.
At the bottom there were a few people kayaking in the rapids. I have an inflatable kayak somewhere so I might have to give it a go myself next time.
Every time I go exploring I seem to add new things to my never ending list. At least it’s giving me things to do on my days off I guess!
I couldn’t not post this last one. This is me climbing a fence whilst Mitch is trying to take a nice panoramic photo. To say I’m not great at having my photo taken is an understatement. I look like a Halibut fish 😂
Poor Meg got caught out as well! 😂

What a beautiful area. Thanks for sharing. It’s too bad you are back to working every day with your two part time jobs. Hope you like the jobs ok. I think you look cute in photos. I never have been comfortable having my picture taken either.
In the photos of the river there are several lines across them. What are those? It looks like a fun river to kayak and it doesn’t look like there are strong rapids.

The jobs are both going okay, its a temporary situation (I’m hoping) until we’re off again so may as well save all the money I can until then!
The lines are rocks to slow down the rapids and in turn the erosion of the river bed 😁 x
