This morning I was woken up by a crow screaming so loudly it sounded like a man doing an impression of a crow. I crawled out of the tent to find it perched in the tree next to our tent and watching me. Not the most gentle alarm clock, but it got me up all the same.
Once I was looking more presentable, I paid for our stay at the office. The lady who ran the place was so nice, she was very interested in our bikes and a biker herself so it was great to swap stories.
After everything was loaded onto the bikes (and no one was watching) we jump started Suzie and went on our way.
Thankfully the morning ride was lovely and clear and we managed to make great progress on our ride. Today was our last day and we were aiming to get back to the farm by the evening.

Our tourist spot for the day was The Big Apple. When I say everything was apple themed I’m not joking, even the coffee had apple flavour to it.

Of course we had to give it a try, so we bought two cups and found a seat outside. I put down the cups, sat down and in the blink of an eye Mitch was covered in the coffee. It turned out our table was wonky and had collapsed. Poor Mitch, luckily it wasn’t too hot and no real harm was done but very annoying!

Our next stop was The Flying Squirrel cafe in Toronto. We wanted to finish off our epic journey with a biker cake so we could do a bit of showing off and treat ourselves. Those hopes were soon dashed though when we arrived at 3:45pm and were told the cafe closes at 4. Instead we went into the shop and bought Mitch a new hat.

We prepared the bikes for the last chunk of the ride and waterproofed up. The sky was looking very ominous and the guy who ran the shop warned us there was a rain storm coming.
It wouldn’t make it the end of the trip if we weren’t riding back in the pouring rain would it? It took us 3 hours to get back from Toronto and it was tough. We did a lot of it on the 401 but after being tailgated for so long and someone swerving into my lane causing me to skid, we opted for the back roads. I’ve rode and drove in many countries and honestly Ontario highways are the most dangerous highways I’ve ever been on.
After what felt like the longest ride of our lives, we made it! I had to peel off my water proofs and my clothes and when I removed my boots I had to literally pour the water out of them. I squelched inside for a lovely hot shower and noticed my chin was completely black. Where my scarf had slipped, I was covered in debry from the road which is a new one for me!

Of course it goes without saying that this trip would of been better if it didn’t rain. However, I had an incredible ride and I loved it. Also if you wait for the weather and the right time, you’ll never do it. This road trip really pushed me and my bike to our limits and I have learned and experienced so much from it. This trip has been a real accomplishment for me and I am so proud of us for doing it. Going back to work and back to reality was very hard the next day but it won’t be long until we’re on our next trip and exploring more corners of the world. This time I’m hoping to be unemployed so there’s no time restraint… Winning the lottery would be great too so there’s no budget but perhaps that’s asking too much ha ha!
