A birthday in the Brecon Beacons and a night in a hut

(updated as I accidently uploaded whilst half asleep and didn’t realise until the comments appeared this morning, whoops!)

Well I can’t say I’m too happy about being another year older but I did have a lovely birthday. Let’s be honest, January is a crappy month to have your birthday. Just after Christmas, it’s cold and drizzly (at least over here in the UK), everyone’s back to work and pay day a little too far away. That’s why I like to always be away in the sun!

I’ve always wanted to visit the Brecon Beacons and being only a two hour drive away, it was a good time to go. It was a little overcast and quite foggy so we couldn’t see too much, but the views were still beautiful.

We got a bit of snow which made it so pretty. The pond froze over as well so you would think/hope that my dog would stay away…

Then again it’s never too cold for a swim! Luckily I had him on the lead so I could pull him back before he got too carried away, he’s a bit of a dope sometimes!

After our chilly walk we stayed in Peterchurch in a wooden hut. It was so cozy and perfect for drinking tea and watching films. Our dog particularly loved it and the host, Tara was really welcoming.

I’m definitely staying here again when I get the chance!

  1. Hi Emily,

Another year for more travel. Enjoy the cold before summer hits. Here in Southern California we are getting cold rainy weather. We need it because it’s been so dry. I guess the secret is to turn any outdoor activity into a memory.

    Enjoy,

    Gary
